Rákóczi Castle

A trip to the Rákóczi Castle of Szerencs...

In the downtown of Szerencs, in the middle of an atmospheric park decorated with ponds and bridges, a Renaissance building from the late 16th century can be found: the youngest castle of the neighbourhood. During the reign of monarchs of the Árpád Dynasty, it was originally built as a Benedictine monastery. The history of the castle is inseparable from the past of the town. The neighbourhood of the town of Szerencs, which is called the Gate of Hegyalja, constituted the ancient demesne of the Bogát-Radvány clan.
