Pedestrian Street

The oldest road in the downtown of Miskolc...

Széchenyi István Street or Main Street, as locals call it, is the most significant, the oldest and one of the longest streets in the downtown of Miskolc. Since 1984, the street has bused as a pedestrian street. As it roughly follows the current of the Szinva Stream, its line is not straight. Széchenyi Street starts from Városház Square and ends at Ady Bridge, i.e. Király Street/Ady Endre Street.

Main Street is flanked with residential buildings and shopping centres, many of which are of historic, listed or locally protected buildings. Many of them have already lost their original functions, however, they are still used for other purposes. Today, on the first Sunday of each month, a popular antiques fair is held in Main Street, where visitors from abroad are also welcomed.

The fair occupies the entire street as well as the adjacent squares.
