Sculpture and Promenade of the Benedictory Christ

Panoramas walk near the highest Jesus sculpture of Hungary...

Hungary’s largest Jesus sculpture, which was made of five huge granite pieces by Sándor Szabó, a sculptor from Szerencs, can be found in Tarcal, in the Zemplén Mountains. From the centre of the settlement, a pleasant promenade leads to the 8.5-metre-high, 50-ton work.

At the Sculpture of the Benedictory Christ, we can enjoy a 360° circular panorama with Tarcal at our feet, a row of the Tokaj vineyards and slopes. Tourists can even see Tiszaújváros. A small lavender field was created near the sculpture. In June, while in bloom, it is especially gorgeous.

To the right at the foot of Kopasz-hegy (Bald Hill), there is a turquoise-blue quarry pond filled with spring waters, in beautiful environment.

The elderly and the disabled can approach the sculpture by an electric vehicle.
